When it comes to wedding photography, every photographer talks about “that perfect, sunny day”. But sometimes, nature has different plans, and that’s exactly what happened on Stephanie and Jimmy’s special day. A super rainy fall wedding unfolded, but the extraordinary go-with-the-flow energy of absolutely everyone would make you think that the rain was planned and welcome! Like you can’t look at these photos and tell me that anyone looks less than thrilled to be dancing in the rain!
From the moment we arrived, it was evident that Stephanie and Jimmy were not going to let a little rain dampen their spirits. They were the epitome of a couple deeply in love and entirely ready to embrace whatever the day had in store. One of the most unforgettable aspects of Stephanie and Jimmy’s day was the wedding party’s infectious energy. They weren’t just participants; they were an essential part of the celebration. All day long, they cheered on Stephanie and Jimmy, adding “the party” to every element of the day!
Amidst the rain, Stephanie and Jimmy shared a beautiful first look in the adoration chapel. The soft, diffused light filtering through the stunning stained glass windows painted a romantic backdrop for this intimate moment. That sweet and intimate energy continued through their ceremony and into their bubble sendoff!
After their sendoff, the wedding party traveled to Holden Arboretum for portraits. Our time here encapsulated the essence of this extraordinary wedding. We started with pictures of Stephanie and Jimmy with their closest friends – which, as you can imagine with a group like this, was incredible lol. But as we began Stephanie and Jimmy’s portraits, the rain intensified and they ditched their umbrellas entirely! They chose to embrace the rain, making our time together full of spontaneous and fun prompts! But the real surprise came when, after the portrait session, the couple and their wedding party decided to make an impromptu visit to the Mentor Brewing Company. The bar provided a refuge from the rain and served as an unforgettable stop to dry off, enjoy each other’s company, and raise a glass in celebration.
As a wedding photographer, I can attest to the fact that it’s moments like these, filled with love, laughter, and resilience, that make my job truly special. Stephanie and Jimmy’s wedding will forever stand as a testament to the fact that your wedding day is truly what you make it to be and they made their wedding the most beautiful and spontaneous celebration. Stephanie and Jimmy, we hope you have the best time in Mohican (with the pups 🥹) and we are so so SO thrilled for you! Thank you for choosing to dance in the rain!
